When I was around 8, I actually wanted to play in a basketball league over the winter, but the deadline had passed. So, we decided to try something new. At that time, my dad got me a golf coach and I started taking lessons.
Who taught you how to play golf?
My former coach Bob Sowards, who now plays golf professionally, and my current coach, Roy Hobson.
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My parents. Without their support, I would never be where I am today.
If you could play any golf course in the world, what would it be and why?
I would say Pebble Beach. I’ve always wanted to play there because of its fantastic scenery, and of course, its legacy.
What are your favorite clubs in your bag?
My Nike Driver. I can always rely on it, since I usually hit it straight, and I hit it pretty far, too.
When you are not playing golf, what are you doing?
I play the piano and I often go to Ohio State games, both football and basketball. It’s fun to watch them dominate in both sports!
As a junior golfer, who do you look up to for inspiration?
Some of my favorite professional players who I look up to include Phil Mickelson, Tom Watson, Ben Curtis, and Rocco Mediate.
What has been your favorite memory so far on the golf course?
In one of the harder holes in the state championship last year, I hit my ball into a bunker. Most of our team’s fans had been situated on that hole. I hit my bunker shot and it goes in, and the crowd went crazy! It was by far the loudest roar of any shot I’ve ever hit in my lifetime. We would end up finishing 3rd, which was also pretty cool.
What do you hope to accomplish as a golfer?
I would love to win a state championship with my high school golf team. I ultimately hope to play collegiate golf and play golf professionally.
